Part 1: The Archives of Gilles Porte
1-11: The Procedure
Against such background, the present digital publication of this picture archive is to be understood.
Our approach is as follows:
- In a first step, we have reprocessed all diptychs which were available to us. Thus, the actual first version of the picture
archive consists of these diptychs and the corresponding standard information.
- In an upcoming second step, we will digitise and reprocess all drawings which are available on paper only. When completed,
the second and final version of the picture archive will be published.
- In a final step, with regard to the question of investigation mentioned, we will examine the basic picture attributes of the
early human figure drawings. When completed, the current state of research, the results of investigation and their discussion
will be published within the frame of the present electronic book.
As concerns the film archive, our approach is as follows:
- At present, we evaluate the technical procedure and automation of format transfer and editing.
- In a second step, we will reformat and edit the films, and also edit the standard information. This work will be very time
consuming. Therefore, the film archive may be made available for the public step by step, according to a selection or grouping
of films which we still have to define.
- In a final step, with regard to the question of the graphic process mentioned, we will examine the basic processual attributes
of the early human figure drawing. When completed, these results of investigation and their discussion will in turn be published
within the frame of a separate electronic book.
The progress of the work depends directly on the funding of each of the phases described. Corresponding aplications will be
submitted.
The stage of work and the corresponding versions of the archives and electronic books are quoted in the paragraph "Version"
(for the electronic book, see menuitem "Appendix-Version", for the picture archive, see the corresponding menuitem "Help-Version").
