2-2: Question of the present study

As described in chapter 1-3, we have already provided evidence that a substantial part of graphic aspects and their development, "abstract" and "figurative", is cross-contextual: Quasi-identical graphic aspects and their developmental tendencies can be observed for very different concrete contexts of picture production.

At the same time, we have indicated context-related aspects, too, however interpreting the cross-contextual graphic structure as more basic.

Thus, for the present study, we do only question to what extend cross-contextual aspects of early human figure drawings are found in the archive of Gilles Porte.
