Kellogg Archive – How to Search

For an overview over the cards, their titles and their content, select «Archive Structure - Categories» in the menu. In the layout, click on + to display parts of the system; click on ++ to display the whole system; click on i to display indications about the definitions of categories (picture attributes); click on a category title to view the related pictures.

If you want to view the reproductions of the 255 microfiche cards without picture extraction (reproductions of the entire cards), go to the search form and enter «1» into the field «Position on a Card». Because the first reproduction of a single microfiche is the entire card itself, all 255 cards will be displayed.

If you want to view the identifying labels of the 255 microfiche cards, go to the search form and enter «2» into the field «Position on a Card». Because the second reproduction of a single microfiche is the label, all 255 labels will be displayed.

If you want to view the contents of the 255 microfiche cards, go to the search form and enter «3» into the field «Position». Because the third reproduction of a single microfiche is the content, all 255 corresponding indications will be displayed.

If you want to search for the pictures of one or several cards, go to the search form and enter the corresponding card number(s) into the field «Card Number(s)»; separate the numbers by a blank character. You may also search for a range of cards and by using the corresponding fields.

If you want to search for pictures related to categories (picture attributes), go to the search form and select one or multiple categories (use «ctrl + category» for the selection of multiple categories). Enable «AND» for a search of pictures related to all categories selected, enable «OR» for a search of pictures related to one of the categories selected.

If you want to search for one or several pictures, go to the search form and enter the corresponding picture number(s) into the field «Picture Number(s)»; separate the numbers by a blank character. You may also search for a range of cards by using the corresponding fields.

If you want to search for inscriptions, use the corresponding fields in the search form.
